Soak and wet? Up and Go where the stars glow above!
16 June 2008
The sun never fails to shine and the blue sky doesn't often cry in Venezuela!
Nothing in this world is too sacred to remain hidden from outsiders forever even if the road to the find is full of twists and turns since someone is bound to unearth it in the end. However, somehow, until recently, Venezuela remained one of the best kept secrets in Latin America as a tourist destination. Certainly, it must be said that Venezuela has all the ingredients of the perfect tourist destination as it is a country extremely profuse in history and culture, and it possesses a wonderful chain of mountains, breathtaking countryside and an impressive coastline. Indeed, there is no such thing as a perfect painting but Venezuela portrays a natural picture that only God's hand could have managed to create so that we could all relish and enjoy at our leisure. Having experienced a fuse of diverse cultures - the Arawako, Guaraunos, Caribes, Piaroas, Motilones, Spaniards and African - the inhabitants of this beautiful country have been endowed with an astonishing complaisance, buoyancy, tolerance and a contagious passion for life. From the indigenous Arawako, Guaraunos, Caribes, Piaroas, Motilones they inherited their unimpeachable hospitality, from the Spaniards they inherited their iberian distinctiveness and their language, and from the African they inherited their rhythmical disposition which have blessed, both, their sense of individualism and togetherness. It has been said that Venezuela is a depiction of Eden on Earth which God himself created. Who am I to argue with that?
Indeed, miscegenation has merged the inhabitants of this land into one country, one people which is reflected in their concerted energy to make the country move towards becoming a force in the world market. It pleases me greatly to say that I cannot think of another country's population whose passion for life matches that of Venezuela. However, rhapsody and thrill cannot be found in a mood of conformity since living in the sort of twilight sleep in which one is conscious of nothing except work, family life, mowing the lawn and bringing home the bacon cannot be healthy for anybody. Therefore, in the face of that one can be forgiving for embarking on a voyage of discovery which will take one and one's family out to the margins of the Caribbean Sea where white sandy beaches, streets and market places outside chime loud with ardour with the appearance of colourful and interesting people. Indeed, it is assured that one's visiting Venezuela will open a most wonderful and useful window onto a world that one thought was lost forever in the innermost past and which was only then present in the haze of one's imagination. Nevertheless, you don't have to be another Indiana Jones to take up the challenge since flying without feathers or wings can be done on an aircraft.  Yeah!  Reach for the stars and land onto a fascinating country which is Venezuela, and be prepared to be mesmerised by the beauty of it. Yeah! What are you waiting for?  Come to Venezuela and be assured of the warmest welcome you would ever receive anywhere on Earth.
