It is an absolute ignominy but A-Rod is leaving the New York Yankees.
29 October 2007
A-Rod is leaving the New York Yankees and the Big Apple city that it is so good that they named it twice. New York, New York and all that jazz.  But why? Why? Why does he have to go? I don't know but  he would not say. Why does he have to walk out on us in such a way? I really don't know..

Alex Rodríguez decided on Sunday to apply the clause to cancel his current 10 years contract and 252 million dollars with the New York Yankees in what it seems to be the end of his career with the best known baseball team in Major League Baseball. Rodríguez's decision was announced by his agent Scott Boras at Coors Field last night where Game 4 of the 2007 World Series was being played. Rod's decision to abandon the Yankees' fort has been seeing as an act of loyalty to Joe Torres who had recently let go at the team's reins owing to a contract disagreement with the Yankees' owner, but better still it will allow Rod to turn into a free agent. It has been said that victory more often than not favours the brave but I see Rod's decision as a rash one and being well outside of his equitable judgement and, of course, not a decision to titter about and all because the Yankees ran into a spot of bother during the Playoff with the Cleveland Indians. Nevertheless, no one will grant me the power to manipulate time and the thoughts of others but it may supply the Yankees with the next best thing which is the chance to replace Rod with the wisdom that he is gone and he is not coming back and need to be replaced. What would I do if I ruled the world? Well, as I don't really have a despotic disposition, I would establish some sort of awareness to give voice to those who pay and watch Major League Baseball and I would personally make sure that their views were taking into account when major decisions were to be made which may affect the stability of a team, and certainly put right wrongs of which I were keenly conscious.
