Figueras or Figueroa

Figueroa is a name of origin geographical, derived from the name of the place
where one lived and/or, in many cases, the founder of the lineage was a
landowner.

Figueroa es un apellido de origen toponimico, derivado del nombre del lugar
donde vivia o era dueño de tierras el fundador del linaje. 

ORIGEN OF THE LINEAGE / ORIGEN DEL LINAJE

The Figueroas comes from the same trunk and root found in the Northest of
Spain (Figueras). The name of Figueroa has been derived of the word
Fig that in Castilian it means Fig tree.

Los Figueroas proceden de un mismo tronco y raiz que estaba en el noreste
de España (Figueras).  El nombre de lugar Figueroa se ha derivado de la
palabra Figueras que en castellano significa arbol de higueras. 

THE FIRST FIGUEROAS / LOS PRIMEROS FIGUEROAS 

The name of Figueroa was used at the beginning as a convenient way of
identifying a person that came from a particular area (in this case Figueras)---

El nombre de Figueroa se empleaba al principio como una manera
conveniente de identificar a una persona que venia de aquel lugar ( en este
caso Figueras).

ARMOUR / ESCUDO DE ARMAS

The Coat-of-Arms of several branches of the Figueroa remember the origin of
the name, presenting fig branches or leaves of figs on the shield.

Las armas de varias ramas de Los Figueroa recuerdan el origen del apellido
presentando ramas de higueras u hojas de higueras sobre el
escudo.
