Do you believe in yourself?

It could make all the difference.Last week I coached someone who was very frustrated with throwing to first base, second base, third base and home plate. He is, both, knowledgeable and skilful player but his confidence was on the floor. In the past he listened to advice from so many people who themselves needed help in their development of their own game and as a result his game went to pieces. It is puzzling sometimes but when you are attempting to work out what is lacking one will often find that is the simple belief the person has in himself that is missing. Sometimes people use witticism and nonchalant attitude as an attempt to cover up for their lack of certainty in themselves which is a shame because really talented people who deserve success sometimes fail simply because of this lack of faith in themselves. So, I advised the player to take it easy and concentrate on picking the ball up,catching it and hitting the target as often he could at training sessions. I also asked him to make sure that he was convinced himself he could do this and have all doubts sort out before hand. Hopefully, he will take on board my advice and seek professional advice when in need of an instruction on how to do things in baseball.
