Figueras Baseball Academy would like to commemorate the 224th anniversary of the birth of Simon Bolivar by paying tribute to his vision and enterprise in seeding the ground for the unification of the Americas. Simon Bolivar was born in 1783 in Caracas, Venezuela and went to lead a rebellion against Spanish rule that established the independence of Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Peru and Venezuela. Albeit, born in Venezuela, Bolivar was, however, an Americano in a universal definition and his vision of unity and parity in the new world is still regarded as an inspiration to everyone and each of the peoples of the American Continent. Thence, on behalf of the Academy, I would like to extend an invitation to the citizens of the United Kingdom and the international community to follow Bolivar's global vision of a united and democratic world. It is not too late.
