The Croydon Pirates needed to remember taste of victory in 2010, as they did not win a game in the 2009 British National League!

"A small-minded person will always have a parochial outlook on life; therefore, he/she will never allow his/her mind to develop the ability to make good judgements and will forever remain insular to new ideas"

After what the buccaneers endured in the 2009 British National League Season, one wondered whether any of them would have been mentally and physically able to even come ashore in 2010. Nevertheless, the corsairs realised that being imprisoned in an emotional fortress and in isolation was detrimental to their mental and physical constitution.  Indeed, times of tension often ask taxing demands on one’s ability to perform on the field of playing as good results can prove difficult to achieve. Having said that, every so often, something falls into place, which provides one with the reassurance needed to override a moment of doubt and despondency. Certainly, 2010 proved to be a better year for the Croydon Pirates as they not only faced the music but played it as well since they won ten times in twenty-four outings and made the Playoffs in the 2010 British Baseball Season. Although, the elation was extinguished when we lost against Richmond in the Playoffs, deep down, I felt that we were the better team on the day and should have won the game even though the final score tells a different story.  Anyhow, I know this experience will make us a better team in the time to come as satisfying outcomes are in the horizon. Very well done everyone, you made me proud.  Meanwhile in Belgium, Deurne Spartans a newly promoted team - managed by my good friend Elias Lugo – are doing very well indeed since they won thirteen times in twenty two outings and qualified for the Playoffs.  Bonne chance,Elias.
