Southampton Mustangs  @  Croydon Pirates

A scintillating rendition on the mound by Gary Davison and Dave Wrigley gave Southampton Mustangs their 8th and 9th wins of the season, on Sunday afternoon double header, when they defeated the Croydon Pirates 9 runs to 7  and 18 runs to 7 at their nest. The definitions of "from a boat and jumping into the water, rat, sinking ship, capitulation and all that jazz" crossed the inner thinking of many neutrals in Croydon yesterday after the Pirates' defeat, but it is fair to say that when the level of expectation rises the demands on a team increase, nevertheless, it is fair to say that a certain amount of confidence seems to be leaking through Pirates' defence at the present time and I think it is something that ought to be addressed sooner rather than late. Indeed, greatness is the destination, anything else less than that is just not good enough.
