Kerepakupai Merú or Angel Falls
What’s in a name Quite a lot it seems for many people but for others a name is nothing more than an artificial and meaningless convention that only defines appellation of a person, animal or place. Nevertheless, controversy about the epithet of the highest waterfall in the world has prompted a contentious dissertation, which would not be put to bed until the matter has been debated at length in a court of law, I suspect. There is no doubt that Hugo Chavez would enjoy the whole intellectual challenge which many have labelled as an insignificant argument over names that has been blown out of proportion.  However, President Chavez’s warmth and indisputable allegiance to his people and nation would certainly make him many friends around the globe who would be more than pleased to lending their support to his cause. Indeed, it is my personal view that the indigenous name Kerepakupai-Merú, which defines waterfall of the deepest place, ought to be preserved as a heritage name for years to come.
