Start spreading the news the New York Yankees are the 2009 Major League Baseball World Series Champions!

NY Yankees  7   Philadelphia Phillis  3
The 2009 Major League Baseball World Series is over now and the mighty New York Yankees are the 2009 MLB World Series Champions. Certainly, there are very few things in baseball that leave me lost for words and the outcome of this series was one of them as I am a Mets fan but praise and recognition must be given to the victors for their recent achievements and I hope that they accept them graciously and not let them to go to their heads since nobody likes arrogance. Indeed, I have to accept that life has its moments of magic and the memories are often unforgettable and in all honesty I don't begrudge the Yankees and their fans this moment as they waited long enough for it. Nevertheless, simplicity and minimalism were the weapon used for the exceptional job that elevated the New York Yankees to such a height last night in New York as angst changed to euphoria at Yankee Stadium once the last out had been secured at first base by Mark Teixeira. A whirl of colourful fireworks signalled the end of the long wait as the trophy was presented to the winners of the 2009 MLB World Series, the NY Yankees, and as their fans celebrated the Phillis' contingent accepted, in their magnanimous assessment of what must have amounted to mental torture, that their team performance in the 2009 World Series had not been good enough and in the circumstances the best team won.  I must praise also Andy Pettitte who made himself available to start Game 6 after only three days' rest, Hideki Matsui who became the 2009 World Series' MVP and of course, Yankees manager Joe Girardi who has done an excellent job since the departure of Joe Torres to Los Angeles.  Final score:  Yankees  7  Phillis   3.
