Figueras Baseball Academy's first annual baseball clinic in the United Kingdom last Saturday afternoon was an absolutely success as it brought together people from different walk of life and nationalities to share their love for the game of baseball while having fun. The event was held at Clapham Common - SW4 - London and it became an international affair as there were participants from Australia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Uganda, United Kingdom and Venezuela. Indeed, our objective is to use baseball as a vehicle to influence youngsters in a positive manner so that they can become good citizens of the world as a whole. We believe in applying real focus on something constructive, like building bridges in the community through co-operation, using the power of sport to help tackle issues such as improving health and fitness, developing education for young people, and by working together in partnership or as part of a team in order to make a visible difference to people's lives. Certainly, the latter becomes very important at a time when the world is blighted by a not cool to be clever attitude with a growing number of children failing to meet the academic requirement needed to be socially successful and therefore the need for stressing the moral values prescribed by society has never been so weighty. Notwithstanding, Figueras Baseball Academy was launched with the purpose of giving a learning hand and advice to parents on how to get their offsprings enthusiastic about learning the game of baseball and softball and it is the view of the academy that parents ought to emphasise to their kids the importance of learning an interest in finding out about things, in order to stimulate their curiosity, and, of course, we encourage parents to support their children's school by attending open days and building relationships with coaches and galvanise their kids to think about education in the long term. There is wisdom in taking an interest in what is going on in the world and we are delighted to offer a breath of fresh air to the world and its social issues by opening a window of learning to everyone. Absolutely, we care for the world and its social issues and we think that it would be selfish if we said that it had nothing to do with us just simply because it does not affect us; on the contrary, we think we should always help when there is a problem in the world and give its misery a well-needed touch of guidance. The aim of the academy is excellence for All and it will continue to build on achieving high moral principles and straightforwardness through its enterprise.
