"Pedro Figueras, the best second basement and hitter of the ball I have ever seen in the United Kingdom"

.Bob Gray

Hounslow Rangers Manager

Pedro Figueras was a member of the league of the Criollitos of Venezuela for a long time and took part in five national minor league championships in the Tigre - Anzoategui, Junior in Guanare - Portuguese, Junior in San Felipe - Yaracuy, Puerto Ordaz - Bolivar, Valencia - Carabobo and Juvenil in Falcon. All representing the colours of the Aragua state in Venezuela. They were national champions in Puerto Ordaz in 1971 and represented Venezuela at international level. He still has good memories of those competitions and although he played in a minor league run by the state he never felt the same as when he played for the Criollitos of Venezuela as he regarded the organisation as an extension of his own family. Of all those memories the only thing that he regrets most is having to leave Venezuela when he was still playing minor league. In those days he played alongside Manuel Sarmiento(Cincinnati Reds, Pirates and Mariners), Toribios Garbosa(Navegantes del Magallanes), Ramon Moreno(Leones del Caracas) and against Oswaldo Olivares of the Federal District, all members of the league of the Criollitos of Venezuela that managed to play professional baseball in Venezuela and Major League. He continued playing baseball in Europe and took part in two international championships in Germany and Holland representing the colours of two United Kingdom's teams. In July 2006, he launched Figueras Baseball Academy in London in order to safeguard the future of baseball in the United Kingdom. The Academy is in the immediate present in the process of making itself widely known to the world while embracing a plan of continuous improvement where exceptionally gifted players will not be the only ones to benefit from its equal opportunity principle for which the academy was conceived since great emphasis is placed on galvanizing players to succeed. The academy believes in celebrating achievement and promoting responsible behaviour wherever possible. Indeed, the academy believes that all players achievement should be recognised and certificates are awarded to those who show willingness to learn and they are also given to those in recognition of consistent endeavour and participation in the academy community.
