Mets' much maligned skipper, Jerry Manuel, last night, asked humbly to the Mets die-hard fans for patience and courage in adversity as the team seeks home encouragement for tonight's second home game against the D-backs. Indeed, Manuel is determined to prove his critics wrong as he is focussing purely on tonight's second match of a three games series against the Diamondbacks at Citi Field; nevertheless, he is at pain to reassure the fans that everything is going to be all right for he has been accused of being a fugitive from reality as in many people's view he has been unable to bring the best out of his players on the field of playing. Certainly, the Mets are desperate to stay in the hunt for a final glory but they need to start exerting their weight at Citi Field as winning their home games is of paramount importance for their cause. However, Mets have been defeated twice after a five game streak which saw them gaining ground on League pace makers, Philadelphia Phillies and last night was not a good advert for their intentions as fire-fighter Sean Green tossed a wild pitch which handed the game to the visitors after the Mets have responded well at the Diamondbacks' hostility as Mark Reynolds and Miguel Montero went over the fence. Daniel Murphy and David Wright went over the wall too for the Mets but the deciding run arrived in the top of the eighth inning when Justin Upton reached home plate courtesy of Green's wild pitch. Final score:  Diamondbacks 3  Mets 2.
