Fernando Tatis' cogency torn Rockies apart at the bottom of the eighth frame, after coming on as a pinch-hitter with the bases loaded, as Mets pulled off a stunning victory at Citi Field last night!
28 July 2009
New York Mets   7   Colorado Rockies   3

Jerry Manuel saluted his side after a breathtaking display that saw Fernando Tatis produced a gargantuan grand slam off Colorado's reliever Frankling Morales, after coming on as a substitute for right-fielder, Cory Sullivan, in the bottom of the eighth with the bases occupied, as the Mets hit the Rockies for seven. "It is an incredible feeling to be back," uttered Tatis once he had reached the dugout. The fans hailed Tatis' grand slam as a tale of the unexpected as Mets stormed the Rockies' defence into a 7 - 3 lead. It seems that the Mets are on the way up as they are undefeated in their last three outings and it can only get better from now on as the opposite would be calamitous for their season. Mets' opening hurler, Oliver Perez, displayed some good stuff on the mound as he conceded five hits, including a two-run homer by Colorado's short-stop, Troy Tulowitzki, for three runs while striking out five batters in five innings. Mets fire-fighters Brian Stoke, Pedro Feliciano, who took the win, and Francisco Rodriguez combined to put the game to bed for the Mets. Final score: Mets 7 Rockies 3.
