John Lannan had his finest hour for the Nationals at their ball park last night against a deficient Mets' side as he clinched his first shutout in Major League Baseball!
22 July 2009
Washington Nationals   4    New York Mets   0

Nationals' opening hurler, John Lannan, was in imperious form on the mound at Nationals Park last night as he blanked the Mets to complete his first Major League Baseball shutout as he sowed nine zeros on the visitors' frames. He conceded seven hits for no runs while striking out one batter. Nevertheless, I think is fair to say that Mets' opening pitcher's, Oliver Perez, performance was not too bad under the circumstances even though he allowed four hits for four runs and six walks while striking out four Nationals in six innings. Final score: Nationals 4 Mets 0.
