Mets' dark days seemed to have got worse and worse as the Braves seized their skulls at Turner Field last night! 17 July 2009 Atlanta Braves 5 New York Mets 3
Mets began the second part of the current season in an inauspicious manner as they were defeated at Turner Field last night by the Atlanta Braves. Indeed, opening pitcher, Oliver Perez, conceded two solo homers to Yunel Escobar and Garret Anderson in the bottom of the second inning to put the hosts ahead. Mets reply was a a good one since they scored trice in the top of the fourth inning but soon after - at the bottom of the fourth - the Braves equalised to add a bit of excitement to the match. The score remained the same until the bottom of the seventh frame when the hosts added a run to their score and at the close of the next inning they added a further one to put the game to bed for the Braves.
