Pedro Martinez waved bye to loyalty as he embraced Citizens Bank Park as his new place of work!

Philadelphia Phillies  1  New York Mets

Mets' fans were absolutely gormless and utterly gobsmacked when they heard the news about pedro's elopement with New York Mets' old foe - the Philadelphia Phillies. Indeed, Pedro's return to Major League Baseball for the Phillies is a well served knuckle sandwich to the Mets' fans as he is now intent on aiding Mets' old foe's bid for glory. However much it may hurt the Mets' fans, the deed has been done and they must accept that Pedro has bolted to the other side of the fence and in the arms of the enemy; but let us not forget that Pedro became surplus to requirement when Jerry Manuel decided to jab new blood into the Mets' bullpen before the Phillies eyed up a storm and jumped on the Mets' bandwagon.  Phillies' General manager Ruben Amaro believes that the capture of Pedro's signature - as he signed a one-year contract - was a clever move by the Phillies organisation since it is thought that the Mets let him go prematurely as the old chap has shown in training that he still has so much to offer to the game of baseball and the Phillies in terms of endurance and closing game for them. Indeed, horses for courses is an appropriate adage but I still adhere to the notion that Pedro's leaving New York was far too hasty and ill-thought since the man is still capable of turning his arm to a good cause.
