Alexis Arguelo - 1952 - 2009

On Wednesday, 2 July 2009, 57 year old, Nicaraguan national Alexis Arguello, a three-time world boxing champion was found dead at his home in Managua. Alexis best known as "The Explosive Thin Man" dominated the 70's with his skill and scintillating boxing technique which enable him to stage some of the most exciting fighting contests in boxing chronicle with his unique mark of toughness and diligence. His death has moved the world of boxing into deep mourning in an almost parallel occurrence to the sudden demise of the King of Pops, Michael Jackson. I must admit that I shed a tear for "El Flaco Explosivo" when I heard the tragic news. Rest In Peace, Alexis, old champ.
