Philadelphia Phillies' hurler, Joe Blanton, bashed up New York Mets' offensive as he blanked it from sight to aid his team carry the spoils of the game and the series!
07 July 2009
Philadelphia Phillies   2     New York Mets

Mets' ace, Johan Santana, was greeted by Phils' short-stop, Jimmy Rollins in the bottom of the very first inning with a solo gargantuan homer over the left-field's fence which rocked Santana's boat. Notwithstanding, Rollins' greeting did not leave Santana feeling blue as his barge carried on sailing over trouble waters and no further runs were conceded until the bottom of the six frame when Phils' second baseman, Chase Utley, piled on the pain as he hit a solo homer off one of Santana's fast delivery to the further part of the left side of the bleachers at Citizens Bank Park. Having said that it was Phils' opening pitcher, Joe Blanton, who ran the fast show on the mound as he allowed the Mets a mere four hits and no runs while striking out five batters in seven frames. Final score:  Phillies 2  Mets 0.
