Essex Arrows win in double-header at Townmead as Jerry Springer minds baserunners on the field of playing for the good of the game!
30 June 2009
Essex Arrows 16 - 8  Southampton Mustangs 8 - 8
The wonderful countryside of Essex provided the setting for a wonderful afternoon of baseball last Sunday as the Essex Arrows hosted a double header in which the Southampton Mustangs were the visitors. Indeed, it was an afternoon full of action and fun in which celebrated presenter Jerry Springer acted as a base umpire and Ricky Gadsby, the Major of Waltham Abbey, hurled the first pitch. Word of mouth was used to advertised Jerry Springer's presence at Townmead Field, home to the Arrows and Archers, and very soon the Field was packed with autograph hunters. Nevertheless, the Arrows and their skipper, Luis Castro, were the real stars last Sunday afternoon as they defeated the Mustangs twice to consolidate their already strong position at the top of the AAA East division with a 100 per cent record in 18 outings. Final score:  Arrows 16 - 8   Mustangs 8 - 8.
