There is a school of thought in any sport which says that you must win your home games to stand a chance of staying in the hunt for the final glory. Notwithstanding, inspiration has been an absentee for quite sometime in the mind of - psychologically shattered - Mets' personnel which has emotionally affected their performances on the field of playing. Anyhow, it must be said that the Yankees took advantage of that noticeable lack of mental strength and destroyed the de-motivated Mets in this Subway Series at Citi Field where standards seem to have hit an all time low. Yankees' opening pitcher, Chien-Ming Wang, had a good game, conceding four hits and two runs while striking out three batters in five frames but the stage was set last night for glory as Yankees' reliever Mariano Rivera secured his place amongst the greatest fire-fighters in Major League Baseball as he made his 500 rescue of his career. Final score:  Yankees 4  Mets 2.
