Mets a run too good for Cardinals as Santana shows the way forward!
26 June 2009
New York Mets  3  St. Louis Cardinals 2

Easy does it as Santana swaps altitude for attitude to coop the Cardinals up in confinement and stop them from flying his coercive jab. Indeed, Santana was in no mood to let this game go in the same way as his previous two outings in which he unexpectedly had disastrous failures as he was able to rise to the occasion and erase the slips of the past. All in all, he allowed the visitors two runs and seven hits while striking out three batters in seven frames. Relievers Pedro Feliciano and Francisco Rodriguez closed the game for the Mets. Cardinals' opening pitcher, Chris Carpenter had a dream start on the mound as he kept the Mets at bay for the first three innings; however, the fourth frame became his Achilles' heel as he conceded four runs which in the end made all the difference in a game that he was unlucky to lose.  Final score:  Mets  3   Cardinals  2.
