Mets got back on the winning horse despite losing Carlos Beltran to the disabled list on Monday morning. Indeed, he joined fellow players Jose Reyes and David Wright as Mets' regular line-up took another adversity; nevertheless, the team defied dependency and rose to the occasion as they defeated the Cardinals at their dwelling last night. Mets' catcher, Omir Santos had a perfect night with the bat as he went 4 for 4. Dan Murphy also made his contribution to the Mets' cause as he hit a gargantuan solo homer off Cardinals' opening hurler, Todd Wellemeyer, in the top of the fifth inning. Mets' opening pitcher, Tim Redding, had a steady appearance on the mound as he conceded four runs and five hits, including two homers by Brendan Ryan and Ryan Ludwick respectively - in seven innings. Relievers, Jon Switzer, Brian Stokes and Francisco Rodriguez closed the match for the Mets. Final score:  Mets 6   Cardinals 4.
