Mets' opening hurler, Fernando Nieve, and catcher, Brian Schneider, helped to prop up the walls of uncertainties which have recently begun to concern Mets' die-hard fans when the former kept the visitors at bay for six innings, allowing them one run and three hits while striking out four batters, and the latter produced a gargantuan three-run homer off Bay's opening pitcher, Andy Sonnanstine, in the bottom of the second inning to start the party early for the Mets and the fans. David Wright's contribution was an RBI double in the bottom of the third inning off Sonnanstine which literally put the game to bed for the Mets. Final score: Mets   5   Bay 3.
