Mets slumped into a loss last night which might have sank their dreams of winning baseball most covetous prize. Indeed, Mets' ace, Johan Santana, was made to run the gauntlet twice - in the second inning  and fourth inning - as he allowed the hosts nine runs and nine hits in four innings, including a homer by Hideki Matsui. Certainly, the Mets ran off course last night as they found the Yankees on fire and fully determined to prove that they are the masters of the big apple in the town that was named twice - New York - New York. Yankees opening hurler, A.J. Burnett, took the win - allowing the Mets four hits and no runs while striking out eight batters in seven innings. Final score: Yankees 15  Mets 0.
