Phillies scrambled clear of Mets' chase as they whipped the hosts in the tenth last night at Citi Field to go four games ahead in the National League East!

Philadelphia PhilliesNew York Mets 3

Jerry Manuel looked circumspect and noncommittal - as if trying to conceal and emotional turmoil - after the Mets slipped to a three runs defeat against the Phillies in the tenth inning - at Citi Field last night - to lose a three-game series  two to one. It was Phillies' left-fielder, Raul Ibanez, who broke the heart of  38500 plus crowd when he hit a gargantuan three-run homer over the center-field - off ken Takahashi - in the top of the tenth inning to extinguish any hope the Mets might have had of winning this series. Mets' opening hurler, Tim Redding tossed effectively over seven inning, conceding three runs and six hits while striking out six batters before he gave way to reliever, Pedro Feliciano, with the game tied at three runs each. Bobby Parnell, Sean Green were also in action but it was Ken Takahashi who felt the brunt of Raul Ibanez's bat at the top of the tenth. Veteran, Jamie Moyer, took the win for the Phillies. Final score - Phillies 6  Mets 3.
