Philadelphia Phillies  5  New York Mets  4

It is Thursday morning in New York and the sun for sympathy with the Mets' disappointment last night at Citi Field is not showing his head today. Indeed, there is no way of telling what is what in a man's mind just by looking at his face but Jerry Manuel's frustration was written all over his face as his team was defeated last night by the Phillies' resilient will and strong determination to toil hard for prevalence. However, it must be said that Mets' opening pitcher, Mike Pelfrey, was doing well as far as the seven inning but in baseball nothing gets written until the final out and therefore, sometimes the wing of recompense is not what it ought to be for he conceded three runs in that inning which amounted to him leaving the game even though the score was even at that point. Relievers Sean Green, Pedro Feliciano and Francisco Rodriguez managed to sedate the Phillies' offensive but at the top of the eleventh inning Chase Utley hit his second homer of the night off reliever Bobby Parnell to literally put the game beyond the Mets. Final score: Phillies 5   Mets 4.
