The evening glow of the City of Angels brought pride to the Dodgers' fans as their team defeated the mighty Mets, not once, not twice but thrice to take the series. Dodgers' opening pitcher, Jeff Weaver, had a good reason to be jolly as he tossed five innings, allowing one run, four hits and two walks while punching out one batter. Having said that, his counterpart, Livan Hernandez, did not let the grass grow under his feet in such a hostile environment as he produced a performance which in my books rates as brilliant and it was certainly good enough to win any match. He spent seven innings on the mound, conceding one run, seven hits and one walk while striking out two batters. Indeed, the strength and depth of the mighty Mets seem to have taken a holiday in the last four games as the production of runs has not been forthcoming. A loss of faith, perhaps, appears to have found a place in the mind of the players as their visits to the home plate have not been fruitful. Nevertheless, it was there for all to see what the winning of this series meant to Dodgers' manager, Joe Torres, as he was visibly delighted by the sweeping of the visitors as his face was glowing at the end of the match. Indeed, it was positively a luminescent night for the LA Dodgers and the fans. Final score: Dodgers 2 Mets 1.
