Mets were enchained by their lack of self-belief at the plate last night in L.A. as runs and hits were difficult to come by! 20 May 2009 L.A Dodgers 5 New York Mets 3One would have thought that it would take a very tangible ghost to frighten the Mets and stop them producing the goods on the field of playing but Dodgers' opening hurler, Chad Billingsley, appeared to have done so in both accounts as he only allowed the visitors three runs and four hits while striking out seven batters in the time he spent on the mound. Indeed, self-belief is the armoury of those people who are capable of achieving great things in life and the Mets seem to have run out of it at the present time. Nevertheless, it must be said that John Maine was doing a grand job until the bottom of the six inning when Dodgers' third basement, Casey Blake Blake, hit a three-run homer off him which literally put the game to bed for the Dodgers. Final score: Dodgers 5 Mets 3.P.Figueras
