Fortunes cast the Mets on the path of hindrance last night as Mike Pelfrey committed three balks against the Giants which broke the sinews of his plot on the mound at the AT & T Park in San Francisco!
18 May 2009
San Francisco Giants   2   New York Mets  0

Mike Pelfrey seemed to have entered the game frame chock-full of mental tension as he uncharacteristically committed three balks which in contempt of question deviated the Mets from their intended path as they were defeated by the Giants at AT & T Park last night - in the last game of a three-game series - to save some pride. Nevertheless, it must be said that Giants' opening hurler, Matt Cain, was magnanimous on the mound last night as he courageously tossed six innings at the full potential of his ability to damp the Mets' aspiration of a series wipe out. Indeed, Cain's performance on the hillock was sublime as he only allowed the Mets' artillery three hits and no runs while striken out two New Yorkers during the time he spent on the mound. Relievers, Bob Howry, Jeremy Affeldt and Brian Wilson combined to close the game for the Giants.  Final score:   Giants  2     Mets 0.
