Jamie Moyer's throws were driven away by the sheer force of Carlos Beltran and David Wright bats over the wall at the start of the match as they a hit two-run homer apiece to put the Mets ahead at the closing of the first inning. Moyer's misery carried on in the bottom of the second inning when Jose Reyes yielded a gargantuan solo homer over the left field fence to increase Mets' advantage which, in turn, prompted Moyer's untimely exit from the game. In the meantime, Mike Pelfrey basked himself in glory as he spent seven innings on the mound, conceding eight hits, including a solo homer by Ryan Howard in the sixth, and three runs. Pedro Feliciano and Francisco Rodriguez combined to close the game for the Mets. Final score: Mets 7 Phillies 5.P.Figueras
