Stubbornly determined to get his own way, Santana turned the light off on the visitors last night at Citi Park in a mano a mano with Chan Ho Park as he led his team, almost single handingly, to the path of glory!

Santana, the man with the golden left arm, you are the man
A discerning cur is always good at picking up hot scents and Johan Santana has become very good at that. Indeed, like a dog with a bone he was not prepared to let this one go as he offered no breather to the visitor team in his quest for supremacy for he reduced the Phillies to dust while producing, beyond doubt, his best performance on the mound this season. The Venezuelan southpaw hurler, Johan Santana, faced west for seven innings as he allowed the Phillies a mere two hits and no runs while striking out ten batters. Nevertheless, it must be said that Chan Ho Park was a formidable opponent on the mound for the Phillies as he pitched six innings conceding one hit and no runs. Phillies' Hurler Scott Eyre took the loss as Carlos Delgado reached the home plate with the only run of the game on an error committed by the third baseman Pedro Feliz. Final score: Mets   1   Philadelphia   0.
