Jin Young Lee and Keun Woo Jeong posted two emphatic messages to the rest of the participant nations of the 2009 World Baseball Classic on behalf of Korea when the former blasted a grand slam to the right-field to crown a six-run first inning and the latter hit a two-run gargantuan homer in the bottom of the sixth to leave Chinese Taipei nonplussed over an overwhelming 9 - 0 defeat at the hands of Korea. Certainly, Korea has made its declaration of intent in their opening game as they seek to progress in the tournament. 20 years old, left-hander pitcher, Hyun Jin Ryu took the win conceding no hits in three innings while punching out three batters. Indeed, it must be said that the Korean defence was at its very best since it managed to produced five double plays which utterly stifled the opposition challenge.
