I read somewhere, I can't remember when, where Santana made it clear to the press that he had no hope of being ready for the start of the new season but it appears that those rumours did not represent accurately the thoughts of the Venezuelan pitcher since Santana himself said that he was all set to begin hurling whenever he was asked to do so by Jerry Manuel, the New York Mets manager.
