Peace on Earth is all I wish for today on this Christian celebration.  

In our culturally literate age, January 6 earmarks a Christian festival which commemorates the manifestation of Christ to the world with the arrival of the three wise men to Bethlehem, bearing gifts for the infant Jesus, from a place on the east coast of old Persia who travelled atop humped mammals as they followed a bright star. It must be said that the celebration of Epiphany in the United Kingdom is mighty different from what I remember it to have been when I was a child in Venezuela. In fact, it is not so well established; not even a pagan version of the celebration exists which I find in the thread of interest and Christian philosophy very peculiar. Perchance, it might be a way to present an opposite view which can be obtained on account of a different interpretation of Christianity. It is a valid point, I suppose, and one I am not fully qualified to argue about. Nevertheless, my memories of Epiphany and experience will forever be lodged in my mind as they still keep their place in my affections for they are the only pictures I keep in my mind's eye from a very distant past now. Having said all that I am not pleased with the treatment of children in the world as a whole since in all succeeding times children have been hurt in wars which in my view were and are still crimes against the innocent ones and yet present in all men's mind for all wars are avoidable in the context of diplomacy and savoir-faire. These days those little wars being fought are not more than an unending shame to the world since it is the innocent who suffers most from those conflicts. Indeed, it is a desperate time for children at the best of time in those parts of the world as their lives are in constant danger for violence, death and destruction are the only academic instructions and moral values being prescribed by those warring societies at the present time. Almighty! Almighty! Thou who gave light to the world and created life on Earth, are you mighty enough to mend the rift that prompts mortals to kill one another. Peace on Earth is all I ask the three wise men to bring today, on this Christian celebration, to the world.
