MLB 2008 World Series commences tomorrow. Rays on cloud nine as they close in on historic crown!
21 October 2008
Manager Joe Maddon aims to keep Rays shining

Rays go into tomorrow's opening game of the 2008 MLB World Series looking for the next big thing as they are closing in on a historic crown. Indeed, skipper Joe Maddon is confident that his team will make him proud and take the title at the first attempt. As it was expected the foul psychological war began once it was known in Philadelphia that the Rays were going to be challenging the Phillies for the right to be called MLB 2008 World Champions and, certainly, the verbal shots from the front line have already been fired as the Philadelphia press predicts a white wash Series for the Rays. On the other hand, the Rays' reaction to those antagonistic vibes were unusually forthright as they have not giving a flying fox-trot to the bubbling up of words and intimidation of the press as they believe that if they let those comments to get in the way of common sense and their preparation for the series it might take its toll on the ability of the team to keep up the good work that so far has taken them this far. Absolute determination makes all the difference in the world when one is faced with challenges since the winning formula in Major League Baseball is not with those who are too conceited to think they have the know-how keenness of vision but with those who are prepared to go beyond their natural boundaries. I don't think the cleanup prediction which the Philadelphia press is ranting about will make an appearance in this series since the Rays' team have a whole lot of talented personnel at their disposal which is well capable of looking after itself. Besides, Rays' players assertive attitude cannot be matched and I can assure you that those random comments will not be taken to heart as they are determined to rise above the occasion and win the World Series in their first outing for Tampa Bay and their fans.
