The sun has yet to set in Tampa Bay in this American League Playoff series as a winners take all final game was forced by the Red Sox as the Rays were defeated on home soil at Tropicana Field last night!
19 October 2008
Boston Red Sox   4   Tampa Bay Rays   2

Rays' fans had to grin and bare it last night as their team hopes of sealing the series were placed on the horns of a dilemma last night at Tropicana Field as their team one game advantage in the series was burned to a crisp after Shields' weak spot was exposed by the Red Sox's artillery and Josh Beckett's fine display on the mound. Indeed, dark clouds began to appear in the top of the six as the Red Sox woke to the realisation that the unthinkable two days ago could happen as they scored twice to break a tie which proved to be enough to literally put the game to bed and force the series to go to the wire. Regretably, James "Big Game" Shields could not step quite to the mark as his hopes of securing a pass for his team to the next stage of the competition took fly when his chance travelled on the wings of the wind as the Red Sox made the Rays fall headlong in the dust and bite the Earth. Certainly, in accordance with what has gone before, it would appear that the Red Sox are in pole position now to strike the killer blow that would enhance their reputation as the kings of comebacks. Albeit, it is fair to say that nothing is said that has not been said before the Rays must search now into things under the Earth and in their past performances and make the worse appear the better cause for striking a positive response to last night tears of mortification and win tonight's game as it would be of inestimable value to their die-hard fans. Final score:   Red Sox  4    Rays   2
