Mets’ aspirations to reach the Playoffs nosedived last night at Shea Stadium after latest collapse!
27 September 2008
Florida Marlins   6    New York Mets   1

One would have thought that a word of the wise would be enough to avoid falling on one’s sword but nothing has been said that had not been said before as history seems to be repeating itself and in much the same way as last season for the Mets.  Indeed, Mets’ aspirations are burning less bright today after they were forced to pass under the yoke of ignominy as they were handed a sound thrashing on home soil by the Marlins last night.  It is not my blowing this up out of proportion but in my opinion they were very poorly last night at Shea stadium; nevertheless, it is crucial that they win tonight if they are to maintain a forlorn hope of reaching their goal as it is action and not prayers that will get the Mets out of a corner even though it appear that they are no longer master of their own fate as the Phillies and the Brewers won their respective games last night. Opening hurler, Mike Pelfrey, lasted only six innings on the mound last night as he conceded three runs and seven hits, including a mighty homer in the top of the six to Josh Willingham, which literally end the contest.  Certainly, every cry for help deserve a good arm in Major League Baseball and Santana is very ready to supply instant karma for the Mets after only three days rest.  How cool is that? Be as it may, tonight’s match at Shea Stadium comes under the spot light for its significance to the Mets’ cause as they cannot afford to lose again, especially, as the Phillies stand on the brink of Glory and the Brewers are in pole position to claim the only wild card place left.  Final score:  Marlins  6  Mets  1.
