Mets' artillery sent shock waves through the National League East as Beltran, Delgado and Reyes took matters beyond the fence as they hit four gargantuan home runs at the Nationals' Stadium last night. Indeed, a clean sweep in favour of the Nationals was adverted but the hardest test is still to come. Having said that I believe it is fair to say that the Mets' personnel is fully aware of the obstacles ahead and ought to deal with them in the manner which would produce the best deal for the team as the race for the Playoffs has now taken on a whole new meaning where quarters will not be given or asked.  Opening hurler, Brandon Knight pitched five fabulous innings, conceding six hits and two runs. It was left to the bullpen to deal with the task of closing the game for the Mets and to be fair it managed to accomplish so in a very professional manner even though there were instances when the National threatened to overturn the Mets' lead late in the game.  Final score:  Mets  9  Nationals  7
