Mets all at sea as Myers pitched a storm at Shea Stadium Last night!
06 September 2008
Philadelphia Phillies New York Mets  0

Unusual cloud formations were spotted at Shea Stadium last night just after play off was called by the home plate umpire, Paul Emmel, as Chase Utley drove in Shane Victorino when he turfed a grounder to first base.  Indeed, the lightening was threatening to set alight the Big Apple and its citizens as a figure of a twist was pushing in from the Atlantic. However, it was the Phillis' opening Pitcher, Brett Myers, with a degree of certainty and confidence in his own skin, who threw up obstacles and frustration in the path of Mets' offensive last night as he displayed his vast wealth of talent on the mound for he was utterly inspired by an energetic force that allowed him to strike out ten Mets' batters during the course of the match and when it came to psychology and wit he was well above everyone in the game. Albeit, Mike Pelfrey conceded three runs, including a two-run homer in the seventh inning to Gregg Dobbs, he was up to task as he had an excellent game, and if his team had produced the form they showed in Milwaukee he would have been the winner of this first match of the series instead of having picked up another loss against his record this season. Final score: Phillies  3  Mets  0
