A terrible storm disturbed the calm of the sea last night in Miami as Beltran's mighty slam sealed the fate of the Marlins in the opening game of the Series.
30 August 2008
New York Mets 5 Miami Marlins 4
Bases full, two outs and his team trailing behind by one run in the top of the ninth was the cue Carlos Beltran needed to urge him into action and produce a Hollywood blockbuster in plain sight of the Marlins' die-hard followers as he yielded a massive strike to the heart of the competitive aquatics which eventually was enough to break their valiant resistant. If last night's win is to be interpreted as a natural event of fate I dare say that this victory might be the first sign of a rightful claim to the crown and supremacy by the Mets in the National League East division. Necessity demands actions and Oliver Perez showed last night, long before the wind of change moved the game in the direction of the combative Mets, that he has the tools to fulfil the expectations of the Mets' fans. A battle has been won but the war carries on and some relaxation is need now before tomorrow's game and Miami Beach surely can supply that. Final score: Mets 5 Marlins 4
