Craftsmen are always pleased to hear their work being appreciated and Martinez, Ayala, Wright and Delgado are not exception for they were supreme in their own field at Shea Stadium last night!
22 August 2008
New York Mets  5   Atlanta Braves  4

There was not a blemish on Pedro's escutcheon and performance last night as there was plenty of spiritual ascendancy in him to accompany his intended of doing. I grant you indeed that the three runs he conceded during his staying on the mound makes my précis of Martinez sound bias and I must admit that your suspicion appear to be a valid one but I can assure you that my summing up of this man's competitive approach is not designed to carry that apprehension since I have greater reason to believe that he still has it  in him to yield what the die-hard Mets' fan want him to deliver. Certainly, a craftsman is always pleased to hearing his work is appreciated, and indeed, as he displayed a sense of purpose, courage and valour last night, when he completed seven innings, striking out six Braves' batters and conceding three runs, including Escobar's homer in the first inning on the first pitch of the match, before he gave way to Luis Ayala on the mound, I honestly thought that his performancing needed to be shouted about. Nevertheless, the game needed the contribution of the hitting power of David Wright and Carlos Delgado and they duly obliged in the best possible way as the former hit a home run off Hampton in the fifth inning and the latter went 5 for 5 with three RBIs. Final score:  Mets  5  Braves  4
