By anybody's reckoning all is ushering towards a clean sweep for the Mets over the Bucs in a serious series as Santana sinks their galley to the the bottom of the briny!
18 August 2008
New York  Mets  4  Pittsburgh Pirates  0

The sound of the catcher's mitten consistently echoed the spellbinding performance of Johan Santana on the mound last night as he asserted himself well to the task in hand by showing the baseball world that he is still planets apart from the rest of the throwers in Major League Baseball. Indeed, he exhibited his out of this world talent in plain sight of the die-hard Pittsburgh's fan last night as he, from the onset, asseverated his mean intentions to his hosts as he allowed them no liberty in the first three innings as the buccaneers were unable to reach first base during those three frames. His dominance was such that he only allowed the opposition three hits while striking out seven marauders and no runs conceded during the course of the match.  Brain Schneider with a two-run homer in the second inning and Carlos Beltran with a solo home run in the six inning provided the gunpowder for the cannons which sank the Pittsburgh's galley to the bottom of the sea.  Final score:  Mets  4   Pirates  0
