Mets are racing towards their goal as they continued to follow the winning path at Pittsburgh last night!
17 August 2008
New York Mets  7  Pittsburgh Pirates  4

Ears were closed together for whispering as a solitary raven flew over the Pittsburgh's city skyline before it was seen perched above the stands at PNC Park last night. It prophesied doom to the buccaneers' corsair from the very beginning of the game until its end as the Mets launched their offensive artillery immediately at the inception of the match up to the time it had its quiet course when the Mets captured the Pirates' vessel and took away the spoils of the raid. Pedro Martinez gave a strong evidence of his strength on the mound as he pitched six innings, conceding a walk and eight hits which included a sole home run, at the bottom of the seven inning, by Andy LaRoche.  Upon the instant the bullpen was mobilised and Eddie Kunz was ushered on to the mound to replace Martinez. Albeit, the Mets had a six runs advantage  at the start of the ninth the victory was not all one then as Kunz got in a bit of a pickle as he allowed three baserunners and a run before an out was registered on the board. The throw of the dice produced a wild pitch, a single and two more runs for the freebooters. The wind of change rocked a bit the galley of the travelling fans forcing them to hold their breath as they fell in a trance. In came Smith and not before long he departed conceding one more run as he was replaced by Feliciano who managed to quell the uprising when he procured the two outs needed to end the match. The end of the match was a sign for the Mets' fans to recover their composure as they confined their thoughts to the time to come and what fortune has lain in waiting for their team. Final score:  Mets  7  Pirates  4
