Oliver Perez's uttermost performance on the mound illuminated the way for the Mets to a clean sweep in Washington last night!
15 August 2008
New York Mets  9  Washington Nationals  3

A thinner mass of air swept boldly up over the Nationals Stadium's stands last night and towards the sky while the game was still unclothed as if foreboding the outcome of a terrible time to come for the Nationals. Indeed, there is often a matter in it of life and death if the subject is baseball since the idiosyncrasy of the game entails pride and passion for the die-hard fans. In faith, the Nationals found in Oliver Perez and the Mets, expectedly, more than a match for their audacity as they were comprehensibly defeated by a side in form. Perez pitched 6 and 2/3 innings, and conceded three runs while punching out eight Nationals' batters. Brian Schneider with a two-run homer in the fifth inning and Carlos Delgado with a solo homer in the sixth contributed to the cause of the Mets as they raised their game hotly to a level of conquest. It must be said that the bullpen responded in the best possible way as Sanchez, Smith and Heilman made sure that the spoils of the raid went to the Mets. Final score: Mets 9  Nationals  3
