Perez's peak and Heilman's relief at the end of the game yielded a good return for the Mets' unnerving bullpen!
09 August 2008
New York Mets  3   Florida Marlins  0

Mets were off to a flying start to a new three games series last night against the Marlins as David wright hit his second two-run homer in as many games to help his team overtake the visitors and move into second place in the National League East a game behind the leaders, the Philadelphia Eagles. Oliver Perez had a good night on the mound las night as the mixing of his brilliant repertoire of curves, changers and 95 plus miles per hour pitch made its mark on the Marlins' artillery which fired blanks all night long. Indeed, Perez responded well to the support he received from his fellow team players on the field of playing as he did not conceive a run in seven innings.  Carlos Delgado and Aaron Heilman "The Man" contributed to the victory as well, as the former hit a solo home run in the fourth while the latter pitched two clean innings to close the game for the Mets.  Final score:  Mets  3  Marlins  0
