There was an impressive display of power as the Padres seized the foothold of this match in the very first pitch of the first inning when Jody Gerut and Brian Giles cleared the yard respectively to help the cause of the Padres.  Albeit, Edgar Gonzales' fielding was not up to mark in two occasions, as the Mets tied the game in the fifth, the Padres scored further runs in the seventh and eighth inning respectively to absorb Gonzales' sins as they went to win the game after having lost the previous night to the hosts in a very tight game 5 - 4.  Final score Padres  4   Mets   2.
