The Beardies are delighted by the continuing snow but it is making life hard for the birds. Robins, tits, blackbirds, woodpeckers and others compete to snatch morsels  as the Beardies enjoy their bones in the garden. The Beardies are remarkably tolerant of the small birds but the Red Kites are a different matter and their attempts to carry off the bones are met with furious resistance.

I couldn't get close enough for any good pictures of the tooth-and-claw confrontations - but I did get these from the kitchen-sink window as a triumphant kite swooped on an abandoned bone.
