Donald Macleod (Ebost)
Donald Macelod was the son of Kenneth Macleod (of Swordale and afterwards of Ebost). In a history of Skye published in 1871 he was descrobed as a planter in Demerara ‘who distinguished himself in suppressing an insurrection of blacks there’ [Alexander Cameron, The History and Traditions of the Isle of Skye (Inverness, 1871), p127].
On 28 April 1831, in Glasgow, he married Jessie, daughter of the late Malcolm Macfarlane, merchant in Glasgow [Inverness Courier - Wednesday 11 May 1831]. She died in Aberdeen in 1882 [Dundee Courier - 23 February 1882].
