Francis Humberstone Mackenzie (Lord Seaforth)

Francis Humberstone Mackenzie (1754-1815) inherited the Seaforth Mackenzie estates in 1783 and, throughout the 32 years of his ownership, stuggled with the financial problems of managing his property. He invested in plantations in Berbice in 1800 and served as Governor of Barbados from 1801 to 1806, but never visited his possessions in Guiana, leaving their management in the hands of his secretary, Peter Fairbairn.
