Wednesday, 1 April 1874. Went into the town & packed up my things.
Thursday, 2 April 1874. We went up to London by the 8.50 train & arrived at 1.30. Had lunch & then went to see Mary & my aunts. Mary & Charlie dined with us.
Friday, 3 April 1874 (Good Friday). Went to Christchurch in the morning & to the new church in the evening. After lunch went to see Auntie & Agnes & the H.pages. Met Herbert & Isabella.

Snelgrove’s & to Ludlaw & Cruickshank & to see aunt Emily. Dined with Mary & Charlie.
Sunday, 5 April 1874 (Easter day). Went to church morning & evening. Lunched in Norfolk Square. Called on Mrs Norman & Mr & Mrs Arnold.
Monday, 6 April 1874. We went down to Caversham by the 10.15 train. Emily met us in the carriage at Reading. After dinner we went to to Mrs Crawshay’ss. We left by the 9.50 train.
Tuesday, 7 April 1874. I lunched with Isabella & we dined in Sussex Square. Mr Alice and Alex Rougemont & Mr Philpott, Herbert & Isabella dined there.
Wednesday, 8 April 1874. We went to Regent Street to get my hat. Dined in Sunderland Terrace. Mary, Charlie & Mr Philpott came in the evening[?].
Thursday, 9 April 1874. We lunched in Sussex Square & went out driving with Auntie’s, dined at “the Lodge”.
Friday, 10 April 1874. We lunched with Isabella & dined with Mrs Norman & Isabella Robinson, Mr & Mrs Thompson Mrs Layard & Mary & Charlie also dined there.
Saturday, 11 April 1874. Went to see the “shadow of death” by Holman Hunt. Lunched with Mary & dined in Norfolk Square. Aunt Margaret & the Miss Stapleton dined there.
Sunday 12th of April 1874. We lunched with George & Evelyn Warre, Mr Hicks (42nd highlanders) also there. We went to the cemetery & to see Mary & the aunts.
Monday, 13 April 1874. Lunched in Sunderland Terrace. Left by the 4.50 train from Addison Road & arrived at Burton soon after 9 o’clock. Papa came

Tuesday, 14 April 1874. Went into the town. John Wilkinson came to supper.

Thursday, 16 April 1874. We went for a drive to Reaston(?) & round by the Ashby Road.
Friday, 17 April 1874. Went for a drive. After dinner went into my district.
Saturday, 18 April 1874. Papa, Bob & I walked to Brislington.
Sunday, 19 April 1874. Went to St Paul’s in the morning & to the old church in the evening.
Monday, 20 April 1874. Walked with Bob to stay from Hill to see Mr G.Daniel. Harriet Wright left. Miss Johnson, Papa & I drove to top pre-& walked over the ruins.
Sunday, 21 April 1874. Walked with Bob to call on Miss Malhern(?). Wrote to Polly. Mr Bing came to supper.
Wednesday, 22 April 1874. Papa went to Matlock for the day. Bob & I walked to stay open Hill.
Thursday, 23 April 1874. We drove to Realston(?).
Friday, 24 April 1874. Papa & I called on Mrs Warham. Mrs G.Radia(?), Miss(?) & Mrs Drury called here.
Saturday, 25 April 1874. Left here by the 8 o’clock train for Ashbourne. Drove from there to dovetail. We stopped at(???) & Went to the hall to see the pictures, & then to the church. We had dinner at the “Isaak Walton” and afterwards walked through the Dale. Mr P.Belcher went with us. We arrived home again about 8.30.

Thursday, 30 April 1874. We drove to Stanton to see Mrs H.Wardle.

Saturday, 2 May 1874. Bob & I took a walk. Papa went to Ashbourne.

Tuesday five may 1874. Papa left by the 3.18 train for London. Miss Stevens came to tea & supper.
Wednesday, 6 May 1874. Wrote to Papa. Drove to Repton Park to call on Mrs Crewe & drove home through Bretley Park.
Thursday, 7 May 1874. We drove to Wicham[?] Park.
Friday 8 M 1874. Went into my district.
Saturday, 9 May 1874. Went to see the Rifle shooting & to the Recruiting Ground to see the boat races. Mr Warham walked home with us.
Sunday, 10 May 1874. The volunteers & Yeomanry came to the parish church – Mr Jackson & J Wilkinson dined here. Went to church in the evening.
Monday, 11 May 1874. Charles dined here; Lizzie went to Nottingham.
Tuesday, 12 May 1874. We went to see John Wilkinson & did some shopping.
Wednesday, 13 May 1874. Wrote to Maggie & Isabella.
Thursday, 14 May 1874 (Ascension day). Went to church in the morning.
Friday, 15 May 1874. Went into my district.
Saturday, 16 May 1874. Bob went to the volunteer drill & I took a walk through the recreation grounds & home by the ferry.
Sunday, 17 May 1874. Went to church morning & evening. Mrs Bridgeman & Mr H Daniels dined here.

Saturday, 30 May 1874. Charlie & Mr Jackson went toScropton to fish. Mary & I & Mr Bridgeman played at croquet. Bob went to a volunteer drill.
Sunday, 31 May 1874. Bob & I went to early communion. We went to church morning & evening, sat in the garden in the afternoon.
Monday, 1 June 1874. Mary & Charlie left by the 7.45 train for London. We went to see them off at the station.
Tuesday, 2 June 1874. Went to the district visitors meeting in the afternoon.
Wednesday, 3 June 1874. Went to church in the morning. Lizzie & I went with Bob in the boat in the evening to hear the band.
Thursday, 4 June 1874. Mary & Charlie’s wedding day. After dinner drove to Repton to enquire after Mrs Messeter. The boat in the evening.

Saturday, 20 June 1874. Dear little Ethel Gordon two years old. Went out in the fields with Bob in the afternoon. So cold we had a fire!
Sunday, 21 June 1874. Polly’s birthday. I wrote to her. Went to St Paul’s morning & evening. Had supper at Lizzie’s.

Tuesday, 23 June 1874. Lizzie & I drove to Willington to call on the Miss salts.
Wednesday, 24 June 1874. Bob went to Derby. We called on Miss Dorsell & Mr Edward Daniel. After tea we went to see Miss Ward & then walked to the station to meet Charles & his mother who returned from the Lakes.
Thursday, 25 June 1874. We made a hamper to Auntie’s with flowers & vegetables. Charles, Bob & I started for Repton a little before 12 o’clock. We heard speeches & then had lunch under a tent. Afterwards we walked across the fields to Willington & spent the evening at the salts, got home again at 9 o’clock.
Friday, 26 June 1874. Auntie’s birthday. Walked with Bob to the farm. Charles & his mother left for Eyam at 3 o’clock. I went into my district.
Saturday, 27 June 1874. Heard from Auntie & aunt Margaret. Bob went to drill.
Sunday, 28 June 1874. Went to St Paul’s in the morning, did not go out again. John Williamson spent the afternoon & evening with us.
Monday, 29 June 1874. Bob went to Lichfield with the volunteers. Lizzie & I went to lunch with Miss Gilbert at Walton Hall.
Tuesday, 30 June 1874. Mrs Lowe called.
